Vegas is burning these days…its mid August but the temperatures are still to the tune of 104 F
Its dry & hot….sinfully scorching
Whenever I call my mom in Delhi, its raining almost everyday these days.It rained last in Vegas in May and that too for half a day! With such extreme weathers and an average humidity of 8 % I feel thirsty all the times
Both me and my husband are a big fan of beverages. I always keep a stock of fresh fruit beverages ready in my refrigerator to gulp down whenever we return home! The only thing I probably like during summers is that it brings with itself a variety of juicy fruits, berries, plums, melons etc.On last trip to the grocery store I got a basket full of plums, red, juicy ones.Though mostly these were sweet but few of them turned out little sour! So I decided to add them to this lemonade which I make ritually twice a week! Viola, not only the color but the taste was so refreshing that we went drooling over !
What I needed:
- 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice [about 3 lemons]
- 2 medium plums , pitted and sliced [you can peel the skin if you want , I didn't]
- 1 tbsp black salt [kala namak]
- 2 tsp lemon rind
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 cup sugar [adjust to taste]
- 3 cups water
- 2 cup crushed ice
How I did it :
- Tip in all the ingredients except ice with 1 cup water into a blender and make a smooth blend together for 2-3 minutes.Somtimes as a variation I throw in a green chilly to add a zing! But this time I refrained from it.
- Fill up a jug with crushed ice & pour over the blend along with rest of the water and stir thoroughly.
- Add more salt or sugar as per taste.
Enjoy!
