I really like american fast food.Given a choice,I would have a fat burger with biggg bowl of fries everyday
The husband is even a bigger lover. He can eat it left and right, day and night! He loves to carry finger foods for lunch…not at all interested in the classic sabzi paratha which I am a big fan of. So mornings are big struggles in the kitchen between Indian and American…what to do ..all for the love of good food!!!
Besides, hot dogs make me think New York and New York makes me think Bobby Flay…whom I really like..He is american youth personified to me!His style of cooking american food inspires me a lot..not much measuring, eyeball recipes, quick, simple & flavorful ingredients. The husband thinks I have a huge crush on him…and in my heart ..I knw its so very true
Saw a hot dog ‘Throwdown with Bobby Flay’ the other night and made these for lunch the next day!Quick ?I bet!
As mentioned in my post before,we both love beverages…hot and cold.I made this green tea on weekend after the nectarines lying in the fridge had long stared at me.Usually, I make green tea with peaches but nectarines were as good.It was tangy and refreshing! Now none is unaware of the benefits of green tea.I love mine with honey and lime…too good.
Drinking green tea helps you lose weight, hastens metabolism….of course not when you eat it with hot dogs..but what the heck?
Eat today and burn tomorrow is the policy I follow…what say?So here is my easy-to-make recipe for green tea, but this one tastes so good you’ll never guess how good it is for you! A great, healthy thirst-quencher for hot summer days and teams up great with a chicken hot dog for quick-lunch or snack.
Nectarine Green Tea
Makes 6 servings
What I needed:
- 6 green tea teabags
- 6 cups cold water
- 2 tbsp honey [or any sweetener of choice]
- 2 ripe nectarines, pitted , de skinned and sliced
How I did It:
- Place the tea bags in a large teapot or a pitcher.
- In a sauce pan , put the sliced nectarines , add cold water, and bring to a brisk boil.
- Once the water has boiled , slightly mush the soft nectarines slices with a mortar. Then pour this hot water over the teabags.
- Let the tea bags soak in the hot water for about 10 minutes.Next, add the honey.
- Allow the tea to cool slightly, remove the tea bags and drain the slices using a colander.Refrigerate untill thoroughly chilled.
- Dunk a few fresh nectarine slices in each glass and serve garnished with a sprig of mint & ice cubes if you like.
Chicken Hot Dog
What I needed:
- 2 hot dog bun
- 2 chicken franks/wieners/hot dog
- 2 tbsp sour cream
- 2 tablespoon chopped onion
- 1 tsp grated garlic
- 10-12 pickled jalapeno slices
- 1/2 tsp crushed black pepper
- Green chilly sauce
- a pinch of celery salt
- 1 tsp olive oil
How I did it:
- Defrost the chicken franks in microwave for about 3 minutes. Alternatively, you can place hot dog in water and cook for 5 minutes or until done. Remove hot dog and set aside.
- In a pan , heat the oil and slightly toast the buns on all sides.Remove and set aside. In the same pan, saute the chicken franks for 2 minutes.
- In a bowl mix the onions, garlic, crushed pepper and celery salt thoroughly.
- Place the chicken frank in the toasted bun. Spread a layer cream mix inside the bun.Pile a layer of jalapenos next. Follow this with the chicken frank.Top with a dash of green chilly sauce.Don’t even think about ketchup
However you can use mustard or dill pickle.
Enjoy the hot dog till last bite and wash it down with the green tea!Sound yumm?? I know
