Tanvi Srivastava
This creamy Indian cold coffee is a refreshing café-style drink made with chilled milk, instant coffee, sugar and ice. It comes together in just 5 minutes with a bold, roasty coffee flavor and signature frothy top.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 to 2 tablespoon instant coffee add more if you want stronger taste
  • 2 tablespoon sugar I use turbinado sugar (adjust quantity to taste)
  • 6-8 (~80g) ice cubes
  • 2 cup whole milk chilled

Optional Add ins

  • 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup per serving
  • 1 scoop vanilla or chocolate ice cream per serving

Instructions

  • Add the ice cubes, instant coffee and sugar to a sturdy blender. Pulse or Blend for 2-3 minutes or until the ice is finely crushed and the mixture looks frothy.
  • Pour in the chilled milk and blend again for 1-2 minutes until smooth, creamy and well combined. You should see a thick layer of foam forming on top.
  • Immediately pour the cold coffee into a tall glass. Add ice cream and drizzle chocolate syrup. Serve right away while it is cold and frothy.

Notes

  1. You can replace the instant coffee with 2 to 3 tablespoons of strong coffee decoction or 1 shot of espresso. Let either cool completely before blending and slightly reduce the milk to account for the additional liquid.
  2. Use chilled milk. The combination of crushed ice and cold milk creates the perfect foam.
  3. Indian cold coffee tastes best when its served immediately when the foam is thick and its icy cold. I don't recommend storing it.
